Fresh berries too pricey? Swap ‘em out for frozen berries! They cost much less and they’re always frozen at their peak so you still get all that nutritious goodness.
Instant oatmeal seems like the most convenient choice, but try picking up quick oats instead. It’s more cost-effective and doesn’t have all those pesky added sugars and calories.
Vegetable chips seems like a great alternative to yummy, but very salty, very fatty potato chips. But, they can be expensive. Instead, Try homemade kale chips. With less than 50 calories a cup, and something you can make at home, it’s just a mere fraction of the cost of store-bought chips.
Fresh seafood such as salmon sounds really good right about now. But your wallet isn’t too happy about it, right? Pick up canned salmon instead. It’s got the same omega-3s and is waaaay less expensive. Bonus: it’s a perfect way to pack a punch in dull lunch salads.
Don’t want to shell out the money for whey protein powder? Go for the cheaper tofu. You can still add it in your smoothies and gives you the same nutrients.
Lärabars are yummers, but they ain’t cheap! Just use the ol’ reliable yet equally delicious dried fruit option. It’s a good cheap way to satisfy that sweet tooth.
Some items may be worth the splurge, such as almond butter and Greek yogurt. Deeelicious and healthy.
Plan your meals on a weekly basis. This helps you to keep track of you’re eating and will prevent you from buying unnecessary products when you’re at the grocery store.
Look at what you already have! You never know, you may find a delicious can of beans in the pantry or some really good produce that’s still fresh. Doesn’t hurt!
When planning meals, look at your schedule. This helps to be prepared for when any unscheduled events might pop up.
And lastly, go ahead and buy that bruised produce. Just because it has a few blemishes, doesn’t mean it’s bad. Besides, it can always be peeled and put in the freezer for delicious smoothies and shakes.
Hello! I need some advice on loosing weight I'm 14 and weight 147 I'm exactly 5 feet tall. My goal is to be atleast 105 or 115 for my sweet 15. Can you please help me ? Thanks!
Sure! Could you give us some more specifics, like when your 15th bday is? We recommend a regular exercise routine 5-6 days a week that includes both cardio and strength training. Stay away from processed foods, drink a ton of water, and eat your fruits and vegetables for starters!
i had the same problem with my shins when i trained for my first half-marathon. i still do (i have a half & a full to run) but not has bad or often. it could be shin splints? the muscles on the shins and foot (arches) are overworked/stressed or possible tight which prevent proper shock absorption while running on concrete. anyways, taping my shins always worked. definitely help in preventing it from getting worse. there are some pretty helpful stretches that can be found online- they help a lot
I’m going to definitely have to look up the tape and some stretches! Yes it is shin splints, they are such a bitch…it’s like I want to run, my heart can take it, my lungs can take it, my mind can take it, and then there’s ridiculous pain in my shins. So annoying!
At this point, the only thing that gives up on me when running longer distances are my shins, does anyone have any cures for this? I think resting would totally defeat the point of actually being able to run some sort of distance.
Even with my best intentions, I have no power against…
candy (of any sort)
I’m convinced that if these foods were just stricken from the world, I’d have no problem with any diet whatsoever. I eat enough fruits/veggies/whole grains/lean protein and drink more water than anyone I know, I generally have an excellent diet, but throw any of the aforementioned at me and I’m completely powerless. Diet Coke too, that bitch.
How do you get back on track after a particularly off-track weekend?
I was out of town all weekend, I actually worked out once, but it doesn’t make up for the alcohol, and out-to-eat meals that have plagued my body. I’m headed to the gym this afternoon and planning a menu for this week. Anyone else have any tips?!
So I was sitting on my couch, completely in love with my tivo and I realized I did not work out yet today, so guess what I did!?! I got my ass off my couch, put on my sweats and tennis shoes, and took a 3-mile run outside!!!! I think I thought it was like May outside and not February, but I did it anyway. I’m incredibly proud of myself.
